Nancy Benoit: Devil Worshiper

Yeahhh, so according to US Weekly and more specifically, Hulk Hogan, Nancy Benoit worshiped the devil.

Hulk Hogan, who last saw Benoit in March, said “He was peaceful and kept to himself”. When asked about what he thinks pushed Benoit over the edge, Hogan said "I think it had to be something personal, a domestic problem between him and his wife."

Hogan had some bizarre claims about Chris Benoit's deceased wife, Nancy. “She was into devil-worship stuff. It was part of her [wrestling] character, but [she was] somebody who gets so close to their character, someone who gets into their character too much. Sometimes these people believe their own publicity.”

This is the part where I would typically comment on this whole mess, except that I don't know what to say. A Live Take on Raw

Hey guys, sorry I did not write this last night. I'll be honest, though, as much fun as seeing all three shows taped was, watching that long was extremely tiring!

Anyways, you all know what happened, so I will just share my thoughts and add some things I noticed live.

First, since it's live, the production values of Raw are quite obviously very superior to that of Smackdown and ECW. Cena was waaaaaay over with the fans at the beginning of the show, but he was booed again at the end. The crowd did seem to dig Umaga. I do believe they kept having Mr. Kennedy's microphone segment interrupted due to its popularity with the crowd. Everyone was pumped when he started to do it. I also think that they are still making damn sure that he is completely healed, so he doesn't anything, hence his "match" with Super Crazy and his small amount of fighting during the final segment. Other than that, the crowd was relatively normal with their reactions.

One thing I'd like to point out, maybe a small spoiler, but not really, it does give away results, matches, or anything. During Smackdown, The Sign Guy passed out "Edge Sucks!" signs to everyone on the front row, and his sign read "It's Unanimous, Edge Sucks!." Edge's reaction was pretty priceless, the crowd loved it as well. When he got on the microphone Edge even had to comment, saying "Real Cute!"

Well, nothing else extraordinary that I can recall right now, I'll add any crowd reactions, etc. for ECW and Smackdown after they air, so as to not spoil it. That's all I have for now!

McMahon Death Angle Revealed

As most know by now, WWE has scrapped the Vince McMahon "death" angle stemming from the tragedy of the Benoit family last week.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan was to have Vince return this summer claiming that he faked his own death. He was then going to reveal an accomplice with several names being mentioned for the role. Mr. Kennedy was a top candidate for the role as WWE wanted to build a monster heel character off the storyline.

The June 25th edition of RAW (which ended up being a Chris Benoit tribute show) was scheduled to be a memorial service for Vince. WWE brought in a casket, flowers, candles, and pictures of the Chairman. All of the talent was told to wear a black suit for the evening. The show was suppose to end with a cliff hanger with the lead detective ("Mr. Beck") making an arrest of the fake culprit, which would later turn out to be Linda McMahon.

Roy Jones Jr. Talks UFC

In a recent interview, former four-division champ Roy Jones Jr. touched upon the UFC, with a more positive outlook.

It looks like bashing the UFC and mixed martial arts was the "in" thing to do if you were an attention craving boxer (i.e. Floyd Mayweather Jr., Bernard Hopkins, Tommy Morrison). However, Roy Jones Jr. decided to separate himself from the pack and had only good things to say about the sport.

The following is from an article featured at Boxingscene.com:

"I watch it all the time. They have the best fighters fighting the best fighters and that's what boxing needs. You never can tell what will happen in a fight. Look at the last [Chuck] Liddell fight. Bam, 10 seconds it was over. They got that explosion they were waiting for. Boxing didn't get the same explosion out of Mayweather-De La Hoya.

UFC is a great thing, but boxing has to get on it's a game. UFC is the best fighting the best and that what boxing has to do. If you are an ultimate fighter, you are going to fight someone who is going to fight. In UFC, if you lose to a good fighter, you lost, you still know you are good fighter, and you come back the next day and fight again. In boxing, if you lose and that's it. You are done.I lose a few fights they want to tell me I'm washed up and I don't have it no more."

When Jones was asked about his chances with taking a jab at the UFC, he replied with this:

"Now, I can't get on the ground and start wresting because I know nothing about that. But if I hit him before he gets to the ground, he's not going to get up and have the chance to wrestle."

Now this might be the first intelligent analysis and viewpoint a boxer has had on MMA. Roy Jones Jr. is surely a class act in my book and it wouldn't hurt if boxing learned a thing or two from MMA.
