WOO!!! Is Ric Flair Still Exciting?

Ric Flair is one of the most known WWE superstars of all time. I have a lot of respect for him and what he has done for wrestling, and he is a definite hall-of-famer. However, lately I find myself yawning during his matches. This is not a result of Carlito or his dumb, predictable, I've-seen-it-a-thousand-times storyline.

I find that this is mainly a result of his "extremely impressive" list of moves which include the chop...the chop block...the low blow...and the figure 4 leglock. I hate to say it, especially about a legend like Flair, but a guy that can only do 4 moves provides for a pretty boring 15 minutes. Sometimes I would rather read the dictionary then see another chop from Ric Flair. Plus, most of his moves are just common moves used by other wrestlers like Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho.

Another reason that I hate watching Ric Flair now is that him dancing around the ring reminds me of Pamela Anderson running on the beach in Baywatch. Honestly... can we get this man a shirt? When I am wincing at the sheer nastiness of this man's body during his matches, I am going to tend to start taking long bathroom breaks during them.

At first I was wondering why Flair didn't have a role in WrestleMania this year, but once I thought about it I decided that Ric Flair shouldn't be wrestling anymore. The man is older than Moses. He should definitely be a personality or a manager for a major superstar, but sticking him in second-rate story lines like the one he is in with Carlito right now is a disservice to him and to the fans... who don't want to be flashed by a 60 year old man.

Exciting? No. Entertaining? For a little. I saw him live on RAW about a month ago and I'll admit, I jumped right in doing the "Woo!" after a big slap. But after about two or three of them, it got old. I think a similar dynamic is as work with his character.

Excellent points about his move set (so limited) and his potential as a manager or announcer (so great).

Thanks for getting the picture on there, for some reason I can't do that on the computer I'm on right now.

And good point, although it would get a little old...I would probably yell "Woo!" after the chops if I saw him live. And that gets the crowd into the match a little more.
