GREAT SHOW. That's my Mania reaction. Great matches all around, and it's tough to decide which was the best. Was it Money in the Bank, Taker's victory, or Cena retaining? Let me know by posting. Now let's take a look at my predictions.
WHAT I GOT RIGHT:
KENNEDY! – Of all of my successful predictions, I am most proud of this one. It was great to see the match come down to Kennedy and CM Punk. These two guys are the future of wrestling if WWE lets them be. Anybody can learn to wrestle, but you can’t learn charisma like these guys have.
THE GREAT KHALI – Now we’ll probably see Kane take some time off. Kane is one of my favorites; I wish WWE would give him more respect. His entrance is one of the best out there.
BOBBY LASHLEY – I just want to point out, I also predicted that Donald Trump would be on the receiving end of a Stunner. Even thought it was (extremely) botched, I’ll take full props for it!
THE UNDERTAKER – I was fine with Batista kicking out of the Last Ride and even the Chokeslam…but NOBODY kicks out of the Tombstone. I can’t wait for this title reign.
JOHN CENA – I’m also proud of this call I made. The lesson here: always err on the side of McMahon’s favorites.
WHAT I GOT WRONG:
CHRIS BENOIT – One of my all-time favorites retains…I was kind of going out on a limb calling for him to lose. They really made MVP look good in this match, though. I love his “ballin” move.
ECW ORIGINALS – This went against everything that we have heard coming out of WWE the past couple of weeks; it was quite a surprise, but really nice to see. Where does ECW go from here? My prediction is that Lashley moves to RAW and RVD becomes champ again. From there he can feud with Elijah Burke or (hell no) Snitsky.
MELINA – This was the biggest surprise of the night. With all the Playboy attention that Ashley has been given lately, everybody thought that she would get the belt, but Melina came out on top.
I’ll end this post with saying that I gained a lot of respect for two wrestlers tonight: John Cena and Bobby Lashley. I’ve never liked either of them very much, but the both put on great matches. Cena had some great sequences with HBK and Lashley took some punishment with that suicide dive onto the floor. Cena is definitely WWE’s long-term guy, and Lashley will be up there with him soon. They put on a great show tonight and I hope they continue to improve.
Until next time,
