Shogun's Debut Set for UFC 76; Fedor's UFC Status

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who was recently signed to the UFC, is set to make his long awaited debut at UFC 76 in Anaheim, CA. Shogun’s first victim is still not known.

The news was stated by UFC President Dana White himself in a recent interview conducted by The Oregonian.

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is considered by many to be one of the top light heavyweights in the world. Rua trains with the Chute Boxe Academy of Brazil alongside former PRIDE middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva. Rua is best known for his well roundedness in the ring. Rua’s arsenal consists of a well-balanced hybrid of Muay-Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills.

Shogun has certainly proved himself in the ring, ripping through top competition. Shogun's most notable win was against current UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson, who he completely dismantled with a first round knockout victory.

I’m really excited to see Shogun, Wanderlei and the entire Chute Boxe Academy make their mark in the UFC.

For those not too familiar with Shogun's wrath, here is an extremely well done highlight of his work:

Also in the interview, Dana White touches upon heavyweight king Fedor Emelianenko's possibility of coming to the UFC.

White states that he is "moving close to signing a contract that would bring PRIDE FC heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko, widely considered the best fighter in the world, to the UFC."

A few weeks ago, Chuck Liddell also mentioned a vague confirmation of Fedor's signing to the UFC (Liddell article).

I will def. keep you guys posted on this one!
