Newly signed UFC fighter Demian Maia is set to make his Octagon debut against UFC veteran Marvin Eastman in a middleweight showdown at UFC 77 on October 20 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the U.S. Bank Arena.
Originally, Eastman was scheduled to fight Drew McFedries. However, McFedries had no choice but to back out after having surgery in his leg due to a severe staph infection.
Maia, being the current Abu Dhabi Combat Club U87KG champion, will be looking to utilize his jiu-jitsu wizardry to gain the edge against Eastman.
Marvin Eastman's last fight in the UFC was against current UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, to whom he lost to by a knockout in the 2nd round.
Eastman is no slouch however, and should look to take advantage of his absurd power and size. Being the better striker of the two, Eastman will need to make use of his wrestling skills preventing him to engage in a jiu-jitsu confrontation, which is exactly what Maia will be looking to do.
This is a classic match-up of a striker vs. a grappler and I'm pretty pumped to see Maia's debut.

Exactly my thoughts! I'm excited to see these styles clash...
Eastman will out muscle him though, but since when did that mean anything in a fight.

I think UFC Junkie picked it up as well.
