Jorge Gurgel, former cast member from "The Ultimate Fighter 2," has been added to UFC 77 and will be facing Doug Evans.
If you're wondering why Gurgel has only been seen cornering training partner and former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin, it is because of an injury Gurgel suffered at UFC 73. Along with a decision victory over Diego Saraiva at UFC 73, Gurgel also took with him a broken jaw and facial structure. Ouch.
It appears that Gurgel is ready for action and will be returning to the Octagon at UFC 77, he had this to say:“To all my fans I would like to announce that I will be fighting Doug Evans at the UFC in Cincinnati on October the 20th. It’s a great honor to finally be able to perform in front of my home crowd, students and family. I would like to thank everyone in advance for all the support over the years. I will do my best."
The California State Athletic Commission had issued Gurgel an indefinite medical suspension and asked Gurgel to get a doctor's clearance before he could fight again.
Jorge Gurgel is currently 2-1 in the Octagon. Gurgel is a black belt in BJJ and trains with Rich Franklin in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Doug Evans fights out of Alaska, and is a UPS sorter up in Anchorage, Alaska. Evans put up a battle with UFC's newest lightweight poster boy Roger Huerta at the TUF5 Finale back in June.
UFC 77 is set to take place on October 20, 2007 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the U.S. Bank Arena. Also featured on the card is a rematch between Ortiz and Evans, Marvin Eastman vs. Demian Maia and a rematch between UFC MW Champion Anderson Silva and Rich Franklin, for the middleweight title.

Gurgel is a lack luster fighter who is only in the UFC because he is Rich Franklins jits coach. When you fight you tap gloves at the begining of the match. That is it! This guy spends a minute out of every round high fiving his opponent! GOD I HATE THAT!!!!
Haha yeah, after every stand-up, round, low blow, etc., he's gotta tap gloves. Where the hell did he learn that?
LOL, I say Gurgel takes this via submission
Gurgel by glove tap in the 2nd
