UFC 76 Updates: Lyoto Machida vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura

A newly formed match-up between the ever so mysterious Lyoto Machida and UFC newcomer/PRIDE veteran Kazuhiro Nakamura has been added to the UFC 76 card, set for Sept. 22 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Sources for the fight hail from UFC.com's Thomas Gerbasi in an article released today.

Lyoto Machida most recently defeated David Heath at UFC 70: Nations Collide via unanimous decision and currently holds an undefeated record of 10 wins and 0 losses.

Machida is quickly making a name for himself in the UFC and holds victories over UFC big timers such as: former UFC middleweight champion Rich "Ace" Franklin, former UFC welterweight champion BJ Penn and Stephan Bonnar.

Kazuhiro Nakamura, on the other hand, is not an opponent to be overlooked. Based mainly around Judo and training under Olympic Judo gold medalist Hidehiko Yoshida, Nakamura has faced top competition in MMA today, fighters like Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Josh Barnett, Yuki Kondo, Wanderlei Silva, and Dan "Hollywood" Henderson.

Nakamura holds his most notable wins over Murilo Bustamante, Kevin Randleman, and Igor Vovchanchyn.

UFC 76: Knockout will feature the much anticipated debut of Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, set to face Forrest Griffin, an exciting match-up between Jon Fitch and Diego Sanchez and a main event fight between former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell and Keith Jardine.

Why the fuck don't they televise his bouts? Machida is a beast and I think he'd be getting more recognition if people saw what he can do. Bisping can complain all he wants about not getting enough attention, but following UFC 75, he will have headlined two England events. Machida is really the one being screwed.

Great point Ben....its a shame we don't get to see some of the better talent due to all the shitty reasons I could list for hours.

I'm just happy to see some real international talent face each other.

Can't wait for these two to duke it out in the Octagon.

I see Machida pulling a decision win though.

Your site is the next best thing for MMA sites and has great potential but the wrestling stuff is killing it.

You should know that there will no longer be ANY wrestling posted on the main page and the WWE content is being downsized to one tab.

Thanks for visiting!

I honestly didn't expect Nakamura to come to the UFC. This will be a good match up and props to management for bringing in more international talent.

Yeah, I mean I was so shocked that Naka was in the UFC.

I hadn't even heard about it.
