Cruiserweights.
They are by no means the "big guys", whom we know Vince loves. They are not even generally considered contenders beyond the realm of the Cruiserweight title, or possibly forming a tag team. Heck, even the occasional few have made it to either the United States Title or the Intercontinental title, but not many. Now, I am not saying that I think they should be moved higher. What I am talking about is, with the exception of Smackdown! last night, how often do you SEE the cruiserweights on T.V. anymore? Not very, and it seems to be a tricky situation.
First off, here is a list of the current cruiserweights on Smackdown!. Brian Kendrick, Chavo Guerrero, Daivari, Funaki, Gregory Helms (I know he just had a MAJOR neck surgery), Jamie Noble, Jimmy Wang Yang, Paul London, Rey Mysterio, Shannon Moore. OK, now I know the draft is on Monday and some of these guys might be on different shows, but either way, they have not been used recently either. In my opinion, most of these guys have the wrestling ability to entertain, especially when they are in the ring together(i.e. Cruiserweight Invitational's and such). I almost always enjoy the cruiserweights, especially when they are allowed a little more freedom(it does seem obvious that they are told to tone it down some for fear of injury).
Unfortunately, the fact remains, they rarely make T.V. anymore! As fun as it is making all the new Pay-Per View's from now on Tri-Branded, it almost guarantees us maybe one cruiserweight match for the rest of this year on Pay-Per View's. Every Pay-Per View now has to squeeze three World Title matches in, possibly a U.S. or I.C. match(or both), they always have to thrown in a women's match, and then maybe a feud they are having, and last if they need another spot they will put a tag team match. I do not mean to say these other matches are not important, but rather, with the Pay-Per View's split, we could still HOPE for some cruiserweight action on a Smackdown! event.
Pay-Per View's aside though, the WWE has neglected it's Cruiserweight division for far too long, whether it is for their Pay-Per View's or their weekly T.V. programming. I, personally, would love to see the likes of Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Jamie Noble, etc. more often when I watch Smackdown!. I see it as lost entertainment and a complete misuse of talent on the part of the WWE. I can only hope WWE's writing team feels the same at some point, although I highly doubt it. Tell me what you guys think. Well, that's all I have up my sleeve for now!
