Kurt Angle's MMA Possibility a No Go

Dana White recently sat down and had a chat with TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle about a possible transition into MMA.

Kurt Angle is an American professional wrestler, former Olympic gold medalist amateur wrestler, and currently wrestles for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and is their current heavyweight champion. Other notable achievements include an Olympic gold medal in heavyweight freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Summer Olympics and six world championships for the World Wrestling Federation.

Former WWE superstar Brock Lesnar recently made $500,000 in his MMA debut at the K-1 Dynamite!! USA show, so Angle’s interest in MMA comes as no surprise. However, Dana White believes that 39-year-old Angle would get “destroyed” in the UFC.

The following is a snippet from White’s comments:

“I think he needs to work on his MMA. He’ll get destroyed by any of these guys.

He’s a nice guy… I like him, but I’ll tell it like it is. I think he’s going to get destroyed if he comes in and fights with the UFC.

Because he’s a gold medal wrestler, I respect him for that, but… you just don’t jump from the WWE to MMA.”

Back in February, when rumors about Angle’s interest in MMA first arose, White had said he thought Angle wasn’t serious enough about fighting and was too seriously injured to compete anyways. White even offered Angle a UFC contract along with a year’s worth of MMA training with current UFC HW champion Randy “The Natural” Couture, which Angle turned down.

Is Angle crazy!? Even if he isn’t in the best shape of his life, one year with “The Natural” could do wonders! I don’t care who you are! I honestly believe that a year of vigorous training and determination with The Natural can make anyone an average or above average fighter.
